ECO54 shielding paint is a special shielding paint without preservatives. A new formula with the highest ecological standards, ideal for allergy sufferers. It offers up to 75 dB shielding attenuation at 40 GHz (a shielding effectiveness of over 99.999999 %).
ECO54 is another special shielding paint from YSHIELD, which was developed for use in indoor areas. In addition to excellent shielding performance against EMF, the focus during development was primarily on a minimalist formula without preservatives to meet the highest ecological standards.
The ECO54 shielding paint is coarsely pigmented with 80 µm and forms a rather softer film. Since it is a dispersion silicate paint, its area of application is clearly in indoor areas on walls, ceilings, and floors. The low acrylic content of the shielding paint ensures that adhesion on problematic substrates is almost always guaranteed. ECO54 is easiest to apply with a standard painter’s roller.
If the avoidance of preservatives is the priority, the ECO54 is the ideal shielding paint (even if this means accepting limitations in processing and hardness).
YSHIELD generally has all shielding paints monitored by TÜV SÜD. The testing standard applied here is called TM-07. This standard includes testing for health-relevant ingredients and emissions, product monitoring, process monitoring, and control of input materials.
This special paint ECO54 fully complies with the TM-07 guideline and thus confirms its special properties as preservative-free, emission-free (VOC), plasticizer-free (SVOC), solvent-free, and highly breathable.
The TÜV guideline TM-07 is largely compatible with international standards from UL Greenguard, Intertek Clean Air, etc., according to LEED v4 and is therefore mutually recognizable.
Special Shielding Paint ECO54
This shielding paint shields high-frequency electromagnetic fields (HF) and was tested from 600 MHz to 40 GHz according to the standard IEEE Std 299-2006.
- 53 dB shielding attenuation at 1 GHz applied in two layers | at 4 m² per liter
- 44 dB shielding attenuation at 1 GHz applied in two layers | at 8 m² per liter
- 75 dB shielding attenuation at 40 GHz applied in two layers | at 4 m² per liter
- coarse pigmentation with 80 µm | forms a rather soft film (smearing)
- sufficient adhesion is provided even on problematic substrates
Shielding Paint ECO54 | Coverage
In general, the coverage of shielding paints is significantly dependent on the substrate. The more the substrate “sucks” i.e. absorbs paint, the more shielding paint is needed. Therefore, we recommend performing tests on small areas to see how quickly the paint “soaks in”. We fundamentally recommend using our primer as this prevents excessive consumption of the ECO54 shielding paint. The “average” coverage is thus based on a non-“absorbent” substrate.
It is absolutely necessary to stir the ECO54 shielding paint thoroughly before application. Due to storage and transport, the heavier ingredients of the shielding paint have settled, and this must be corrected. With our specially developed stirring rod, re-mixing and stirring the shielding paint is easily and effectively possible. Simply clamp it into a standard electric drill and mix or blend it for about 5 minutes per container. No solid residue of the fixed ingredients should remain at the bottom of the container – this would result in lower shielding performance because it would not be applied to the wall.

Absolutely Necessary Grounding of ECO54 Shielding Paint
According to valid DIN/VDE regulations, all electrically conductive surfaces must be grounded by a qualified electrician. This can be done via the grounding conductor of the house electrical system (ground contact in the socket) or via the grounded heating pipe of the wall radiator. It is also necessary that a residual current device (RCD) circuit breaker is installed in the fuse box. It must fundamentally be noted that the circuit must be interrupted before painting work—an electric shock with 230 volts at 16 amperes can be fatal! When painting the wall, a distance of one centimeter from the electrified flush-mounted box should be maintained.
Electric alternating fields can be grounded. This is in contrast to wireless radiation (high frequency) which is based on reflection and therefore cannot be grounded. Shielding from wireless radiation is therefore also based on reflection, which prevents the penetration of electromagnetic radiation into the room.
The ECO54 shielding paint protects against both types of electrosmog emissions. This means against electric alternating fields through grounding and high-frequency electromagnetic fields through reflection.
Shielding Paint ECO54 | Technical Details
- Shielding Attenuation
Single-layer at 1 GHz, ECO54 shields up to 44 dB, and double-layer shields up to 53 dB. All specified shielding attenuation values apply at 1 GHz. The measurement of the attenuation of electromagnetic waves from 600 MHz to 40 GHz was carried out in close adherence to the standards IEEE Std 299™-2006 or ASTM D4935-10. - Top Coat
To protect the tough-elastic and black surfaces against mechanical stress and moisture, we recommend a two-layer top coat. Since there is a wide variety of paints worldwide, we can never guarantee a specific combination. In addition, many purely mineral coatings and eco-paints adhere poorly to the graphite surface of our shielding paints. We always recommend a test coat on a sample area. - Grounding
Must be grounded! For indoor use, we recommend our self-adhesive grounding tape plus grounding plate GW (GB) plus grounding plug GP; for outdoor use, the fiber additive AF3 plus grounding plate GE.
